144–200TC is the recommended range for hostel and budget accommodation linen. 144TC (60s×40s yarns) provides the best durability for high-frequency industrial laundering at 60–80°C - the standard cycle for hostel linen. Higher TC linen (250–300TC) is too delicate for the aggressive wash cycles and high linen turnover typical in busy hostels. 144–200TC cotton survives 200–500 wash cycles versus 100–150 cycles for higher TC linen under the same conditions.

Percale weave (1-over-1-under) in 100% combed cotton 144–200TC is the industry standard for hostel linen. Percale is crisp, breathable, easy to iron (or tumble-dry without ironing), and highly durable. Poly-cotton (60/40 cotton-polyester) blends are used by some budget operators as they dry faster and wrinkle less - but full cotton remains preferred by eco-conscious hostel operators.
