Eco-Friendly Bed Linen Buyer FAQs
Questions answered.
What is the difference between GOTS certified and conventional cotton bed linen?+
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's leading standard for organic textiles. Key differences from conventional cotton: Farming: GOTS cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMO seeds. Conventional cotton uses significant pesticide inputs — it uses about 16% of global pesticide production on 2.5% of farmland. Processing: GOTS prohibits hazardous dyes and auxiliaries. All processing chemicals must meet toxicological and environmental criteria. Traceability: GOTS certification covers the entire supply chain from farm to finished product. Every stage is third-party audited. Labelling: Only products with 70%+ organic content can carry the GOTS label. Our GOTS certified bed linen uses 95–100% organic cotton.
What is zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) dyeing?+
Zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) dyeing is an advanced wastewater treatment process where 100% of the dyehouse effluent is recovered, treated, and recycled back into the production process — no wastewater is discharged into waterways. Traditional textile dyeing is one of the largest industrial polluters globally. ZLD processes use: Multi-stage reverse osmosis and evaporation crystallisation. Recovered water re-used in dyeing, rinsing, and cooling. Salt and chemical recovery and reuse. Our ZLD certified manufacturing partner processes approximately 3.5 million litres of water daily with zero effluent discharge, certified under ISO 14001 and third-party audited by Bureau Veritas.
What eco-friendly certifications do your bed linen carry?+
Our eco-friendly bed linen portfolio carries: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) — organic cotton chain of custody. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — harmful substance free, all components. bluesign — responsible chemistry and resource efficiency in production. Fair Trade Certified — available on select organic cotton collections. ISO 14001 — environmental management system at manufacturing level. REACH Compliant — EU chemical safety compliance. Recycled Content: Our recycled cotton line carries the Global Recycle Standard (GRS). We can provide certificate copies for all relevant certifications on request.
What is the carbon footprint benefit of choosing organic cotton bed linen?+
Organic cotton bed linen has a significantly lower environmental footprint than conventional cotton: Carbon: Organic cotton farming sequesters more carbon through soil health practices. Studies show organic cotton has 46% lower global warming potential than conventional. Water: Organic cotton uses primarily rain-fed cultivation — reducing blue water consumption by up to 91% compared to conventionally irrigated cotton. Chemicals: No synthetic pesticide or fertiliser use eliminates the upstream chemical manufacturing footprint. End-of-life: 100% natural cotton is fully biodegradable — no synthetic microplastic pollution in laundering. For hotels pursuing ESG reporting, sustainability credentials, or LEED/Green Key certification, we can provide a product-level environmental data sheet.
What is the minimum order quantity for eco-friendly bed linen?+
Minimum order quantity for eco-friendly and GOTS certified bed linen: 250 sets (fitted sheet + flat sheet + two pillowcases) for GOTS organic cotton. 500 pieces for individual GOTS certified sheets or pillowcases. 500 pieces for recycled cotton (GRS certified) bed linen. Full container: approximately 1,500–2,500 sets per 20-foot container depending on size. Custom natural dye options (indigo, pomegranate, turmeric) available with MOQ 100 pieces per colour. GOTS certified production attracts a 15–25% premium over conventional cotton — pricing depends on TC, size, and certification level required.
